FAQs Coasteering

Coasteering is amazing! Explore Ireland’s west coast up close from a completely unique angle. Coasteering is a combination of adventure swimming, climbing, scrambling and cliff jumping where you will be exploring gullies, caves, cracks and different rock formations created by the sea.

Every Coasteering session is different and we use an amazing location that our expert guides know inside out to insure we will provide you with an amazing and safe Coasteering session in Connemara.

Coasteering can be for everyone, we will tailor each session to suit the groups sense of adventure, fitness, and ability. This is an action packed, adrenaline pumping activity and is our most popular new activity at Real Adventures, one not to be missed whilst your visiting Connemara.

We will provide you with all the necessary equipment including wetsuits, buoyancy aids, helmets and safety equipment. All you need to bring is a towel, swimming togs/shorts, a second pair of old shorts to go over your wetsuit, an old pair of shoes you don’t mind getting wet and a sense of adventure!

Ballyconneely – The village of Ballyconneely is located on the R341 coast road between Clifden and Roundstone. Please aim to be there 15 mins prior to the activity start time.  You will be met in the car park across the road from Keogh’s bar, once we have everyone in the group we will drive in convoy to the coasteering start point which is about 15 mins by car.

Please make sure you know where you are going.  If you are late and there are other people in the group we will go on without you!   We will also not be held responsible for you missing out on your session.

We take children from age 8 and up.  Children between the ages of 8-12 need to be accompanied by a guardian on the activities.

If we think the conditions are too challenging for the younger members of the group we will contact you in advance and offer you the option to reschedule or a full refund.

Our coasteering takes place at Doonloughan in Ballyconneely.  This can be a tricky place to find if you are unfamiliar with the area.

We will therefore meet you in Keoghs car park 15 mins before the start of your lesson and you can follow the Real Adventures vehicle to the beach from here.

If you cancel 5 days before your activity we can offer you a full refund or reschedule your booking. If you cancel 2 – 5 days in advance we can offer you 50% refund or book you onto another activity as availability allows. If you cancel less than 48 hours in advance we cannot guarantee that we can reschedule the activity for you and we will not refund your money. A no show, late arrival or request to reschedule within 48 hours is the same as cancelling less than 48 hours in advance and the same rules apply.

If you turn up to the activity and have a child under the age of 8 years old in your group, the instructor may turn you away and you will not be given a refund.

If we cancel due to unsafe weather conditions, we will offer you an alternative or full refund.

Before taking part in an activity with us, we will ask participants to confirm that they have no symptoms of Covid-19 or been in contact with anyone who has Covid-19.

We are following all the necessary guidelines as laid out by the government to prevent any further spread of Covid-19

Please come prepared with your own personal hand sanitiser

If you have to cancel due to Covid-19 we require evidence of this before we can offer you a refund.
