{"id":1448,"date":"2018-12-17T10:58:26","date_gmt":"2018-12-17T10:58:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/realadventures.ie\/connemara\/?p=1448"},"modified":"2022-05-30T11:04:32","modified_gmt":"2022-05-30T10:04:32","slug":"beaches-of-connemara","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/realadventures.ie\/connemara\/beaches-of-connemara\/","title":{"rendered":"Beaches of Connemara"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2 dir=\"ltr\">Dogs Bay, Roundstone \u2013 \u00a0for the perfect photo<\/h2>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">There\u2019s a reason why this beach tops <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/life-and-style\/travel\/ireland\/ireland-s-top-10-beaches-for-2018-revealed-by-tripadvisor-1.3401572\">polls<\/a> regularly to feature in Ireland\u2019s most loved beaches, it&#8217;s quite simply stunning!<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The pure white sands help the water to look picture perfect blue. It\u2019s a huge beach so you\u2019ll always find a quiet spot to make your own. If you go past the end of the beach, there\u2019s a small secluded bay called Ladies Bay that is a great spot for a swim as it gets deep very fast, no need to wade for ages with the water at your knees. This beach is very close to the beautiful fishing village of Roundstone making a perfect end to your day, do a bit of shopping or grab a bite to eat in Vaughans or the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theshamrockroundstone.com\/\">Shamrock Bar<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2 dir=\"ltr\">Coral Strand, Ballyconneely \u2013 for sea based discovery<\/h2>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">What makes the Coral Strand special is that the beach is composed of Coral, not sand. It might not be obvious until you walk onto the beach. There is good parking at the Coral Strand so access is not a problem. Coral Strand is part of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverireland.ie\/Arts-Culture-Heritage\/mannin-bay-blueway\/91603\">Irish Blueways<\/a>,<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">This means it\u2019s a great spot for snorkelling, and very calm for relaxed <a href=\"http:\/\/realadventures.ie\/connemara\/index.php\/activities\/kayaking-mannin-bay\/\">kayaking<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The only downside to this beach is that it\u2019s hard to walk on without shoes! The added bonus is that the coral doesn&#8217;t stick to your clothes and car interior in the way that regular sand does.<\/p>\n<h2 dir=\"ltr\">Eyrephort, Clifden \u2013 one to cycle to<\/h2>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Located on the famous <a href=\"https:\/\/www.connemara.net\/the-sky-road\/\">Sky Road,<\/a><\/p>\n<p>just outside of Clifden. You can drive here in 10 minutes from Clifden. It also makes for a very pleasant cycle. There are wonderful views out towards Turbot Island and Inishturk South. It\u2019s a popular spot with the locals, so go early if the weather is good. It\u2019s great for kids as there\u2019s a great selection of shells and interesting rocks, that will keep them busy for hours!<\/p>\n<h2 dir=\"ltr\">Glassilaun, Renvyle &#8211; one you\u2019ll always remember<\/h2>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">This beautiful white sand beach, can be found in Renvyle along the coast road to Little Killary bay. Go to the village of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.goconnemara.com\/localities\/tullycross\/\">Tullycross<\/a>\u00a0and turn right in the village. The drive to the beach is stunning. The beach is overlooked by Connaughts highest Peak &#8211; Mweelrea. It\u2019s simply breathtaking with its beautiful expanse of white sand and crystal clear waters.\u00a0 It\u2019s what I find unique about Connemara beaches, they\u2019re undisturbed and a little bit magical, like you\u2019re the first person to discover them.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dogs Bay, Roundstone \u2013 \u00a0for the perfect photo There\u2019s a reason why this beach tops polls regularly to feature in Ireland\u2019s most loved beaches, it&#8217;s quite simply stunning!
