Nightlife
Clifden after dark
What a year it has been for all of our favorite local businesses and spots to convene with friends over music and a pint! Please keep an eye on the guidelines before traveling to Connemara, and do check that your bar of choice is open in advance.
We can’t wait to be able to support our favorite local bars and we hope you will too, when it is safe to do so. We are sharing these so you can save for later (when restrictions allow us to dine and drink in our much loved local pubs!)
Lowry’s
Where to find the craic! Lowry’s is a true Irish pub, warm, inviting and full of characters. Lowry’s is a multi-award winning pub; which includes three years as the Best Traditional Bar in Ireland, and Best Tourist Bar in Connaught. This is where you will find having our evening pint!
You won’t be standing on your own here for long. You’ll be pulled into the banter and the music. Locals always have a poem or dance up their sleeve. This pub can get pretty lively in the summer. Get in early and bag yourself the best seat.
Mullarkeys
This venue draws a diverse and electric range of musicians from around the globe. Jazz, reggae, ska and rock bands cross the stage here, so you’ll never know what expect. You can get here through Foyles Hotel, like Clifden’s own Speakeasy.
Griffins Bar
The Slyne Heads are the house band in Griffins bar. In the summer, they have bands at 8 and 10, so you won’t be waiting long. Also a very good bar to watch all sporting events. They take it very seriously.
Abbeyglen Castle
We’ve heard people lose a week in this hotel. After dinner everyone gathers around the piano in the downstairs bar. The playing and singing begins, and who know when it will stop…..
Lamplight Wine Bar
If you are looking for an evening of wine, accompanied by good music (relaxed playlists or live music), with a wine terrace to top it off – then the Lamplight is your kind of place.
With a focus on handcrafted wines, as well as a passion for bio-dynamic and organic origins – the wide range on offer here as well as the experienced and knowledgeable team will be sure to leave you with a greater appreciation for your evening glass of vino.
An evening of fine wine, top quality food and a cheese board is what we all need this summer!
If you visit any of these local spots, be sure to let us know! We always love to hear how much Connemara craic you had!
Clifden is a unique and wonderful town, a vibrant community, filled with amazing local businesses and the perfect summer holiday spot. We can’t wait for the streets to be filled with that summer buzz again real soon!
