Get outside and work smarter
Three reasons why getting outdoors can help you work smarter!
Do you know that feeling when you’ve got back from a long walk outside? Your feet are tingling and you’re feeling relaxed and calm. Nature offers a big boost to mental and physical wellbeing. Here are some tips to bring some of those good vibes into your everyday life!
Mental Clarity
Does your brain sometimes grind to a halt? This is called mental fatigue – The answer is to get outside. If you’re working in an office, getting a regular break outside can help you think more creatively and actively. Use your break to take a walk, preferably in nature. Be it a park, lake, canal or a beach (if you’re lucky enough to live by the sea). The saltiness of the sea air is composed of charged ions which help the body’s oxygen absorption. This then balances serotonin levels. The more balanced your body’s serotonin levels are, the more focus you’ll have.
Solution – Get outside for regular breaks, or get in a boat
Live in the Moment
You can’t think of daily stress when you’re jumping in the sea. Sea swimming and coasteering are so completely mentally consuming, you have no choice to switch off and live in the moment. Much simpler than spending years learning how to meditate!
Solution – Loose yourself in Vitamin Sea
Reduces Stress
A Study found that spending time in the forest lowers levels of cortisol – the hormone behind stress. Another study found lower levels of cortisol as well as a lower heart rate in people when surrounded by trees. Even in an office, workers with a view of trees reported higher job satisfaction and lower levels of stress.
Solution – Get hugging that tree!!
